Well, I don't know how much you want to spend, but here are a couple suggestions:

1) http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/buy/vegasbook?disp=1This[/link] book is fantastic. I just got it two weeks ago, and am just over half-way through it. At first glance it looks like it might be boring and useless, but I can assure you that this is not the case. By the time you get to Chapter 6 or so, things start to get interesting. I never thought that there were so many little details I missed out on. It's a great book you won't regret getting it.

2) There a couple video series available for Vegas. Gary Kleiner put out a nice one, and it's pretty reasonably priced. You can find it http://www.vegastrainingandtools.com/video_v8c_learn_sony_vegas_pro_8_with_the_vegas_pro_8_companion_on_instructional_video_dvd.htmlhere[/link]. I have this series, and (just like the book I mentioned above) if you spend the time to work through the exercises, you'll get a tremendous benefit from these DVDs.

3) VASST has put out a TON of stuff on Vegas, and it is excellent. A friend lent me the older version of Vegas 5 book, and it's great. In fact I am going to buy the new one for Vegas 8 as soon as I finish the book I mentioned above. But here's a link to http://www.vasst.com/search.aspx?for=31&entity=16&category=Training+Video&sort=priorityVASST's Vegas page[/link] that you might want to check out. VASST and New Blue FX have released some tremendous software and learning aids for Vegas, and I think you'd do well to check some of them out. If nothing else, their learning aids provide another way of explaining the same material, and it might make the light come on a little brighter, if you know what I mean.

Hope that these help. Vegas is a tremendously powerful tool, especially when you consider the whole package: Vegas, DVD Architect, Cinescore and then even ACID and Sound Forge. Over the past 1-2 months I have been scouring the web for comments, criticisms, recommendations and warnings for ALL of the NLEs--mainly because I want to learn one NLE very well, and don't want to waste my time on something that I will likely abandon in the future. So I feel pretty justified when I tell you that I've basically only found the strongest recommendations about Vegas (and the Sony software applications in general, actually) from the more experienced folks in the industry. I really don't think there's much you can't do with the SCS software products, if you only take the time to learn them and develop your skills. The more I read about Vegas and the other NLEs, the more convinced I am that Vegas is the best NLE out there...at least for the average user like me.

Good luck!

I echo tcbetka's recommendation for Gary Kleiner's $170USD training tutorial DVD's. I learned a GREAT amount of information in a very short timeframe.
