When you set the properties of your project (under file), Vegas allows you to copy all settings of the originally captured file with one click, so there is no need to manually set your project properties. It's a yellow icon, under file<properties.
So if your camcorder settings are set to your regional standards (eg pal, standard resolution etc), this is a quick way to get your project started.
Click the very first icon in the preview window's toolbar, the one that looks like a paper with a mouse cursor. That's project properties. Otherwise, you can also find it by clicking the "File" main menu. Then, in the project properties window that pops up, there's a "match media", yellow icon.
Thank you Eugenia. My confusion came from the fact that in VMS8 there is the heading 'File', in VMSP9 there isn't. Instead, it has 'Project'. Heck, that alone almost makes the upgrade worth while ;) Thanks again. Cin
PS. Did anyone else order the VMSP9 Pro upgrade and not get the promised USB flash drive? I had to use a magnifying glass to read the 'While supplies last' junk. What did they have..........3 of them????? Thanks Sony..........NOT!
Wow brighterside, 8GB for $20.00 :O Did you buy it, or steal it ;) I would like to know where you got that! Thanks ggrussell for letting me know your plight as well. I guess there is some comfort in knowing I'm not the only one, but it really ticks me off that Sony with all of their resources won't take care of their loyal customers. If you can get 8 gigs for $20.00, what do you think Sony can get 2 gigs for????? Take care. Cin
Just got the official reply on the flash drives "The 2GB flash drives were packaged with boxed versions of the Vegas Movie Studio Pro Pack during manufacturing, customer service would have no control over who received the boxes that contained the flash drives. I do not have the ability to provide flash drives per customer request, as they were distributed during the packaging and manufacturing of the product, I do apologize." Sure will make me wary next time Sony offers an incentive......... Cin
Sony gives away some small, but quite useable gifts, with the first VMSP boxes shipped.
Quite a nice touch.
How do the users react? Well we do not hear from the users that got the flash drive - but the users that did not get it - complain about that - some even bother Sony Support - for this little thing to less than 4 US....
What I really do not understand is why the times have changed so that many people complain about more or less everything ++ - even free gifts??
I was also thinking about the complains here about Sony's giving away the Cinescore Studio for free - and how overwhelming bad some users found this free offer - not that the software was faulty -Oh, no - but ...!!...
Once I was saddened reading all this complaining and whining for (next to) nothing - but have decided to join Bob Dylan in: "I used to care, but things have changed."
Thank you brighterside for letting me know where to look. :)
ritsmer,
'No offense. Hope none taken' Plenty of offense was taken. I have been on this board long enough that you should know I'm a staunch Sony fan and supporter, and hardly a complainer. Did the promise of a Flash drive help make up my decision as to whether to upgrade or not? Yes. Was it something I wanted, needed, and was looking forward to? Yes. Do I have the right to feel disappointed when it doesn't show? Yes. Does that make me a complainer? I don't think so!
This board is a place where people should be able to share knowledge, experience, ideas, and yes, even a little frustration some times. Sony is great, but not perfect. So if once in a while someone has something less than glowing to say about them, maybe that could be a good thing to help make them 'perfect' one day.
As for "I used to care, but things have changed." I'm sorry to hear that. That is a difficult and unfulfilling place from which to live your life........Cin
Neither here nor there, I guess. Just looked through my literature again and couldn't find any mention of 'Offer does not apply to upgrade purchases', but in the big scheme of life I guess it doesn't really matter anyway. Was just looking forward to a freebie that I could use, and was disappointed that I didn't get it. As for the beer, I would love to get together with everyone on this board and compare work, ideas, knowledge, and projects as well. That would make for an amazing time. Take care. Cin
