Matching New Audio to Old Audio

I have a project that I'm working on and I have to incorporate a 3 minute video that was previously shot. There are 2 custom sections that area 'talking head'. Then in post we drop the new sections into the Old Video at their respective points. The problem occurs when we have to match the audio. The new sections audio seems to have more of a 'Room Tone' and she seems more 'Distant' than the old one.

Someone mentioned taking an 'Audio Snapshot' of the Old Audio and applying it to the New Audio. How do you do this?

Does anyone have a fail proof way of matching the audio?

Thanks in advance!

There are ways to take EQ snapshots of audio and apply it to other audio. Steinberg has a plug-in that will do this. What you describe, however, sounds more like room reverberation. You might want to add reverberation to the parts that are more "close" sounding. You can do this with any number of reverb programs including SF's bundled plug-ins.
