this is a tiny bit off topic but does any one out there have experience working with captureing hdv with a matrox axio card to prem pro cs-3 and then outputting those files in a format usable in vegas 8 on a different system(with no axio capture)? I have a client who insists on capturing in his system and we are trying to figure out what codec preserves the highest quality... into vegas 8 anyt thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!!

Is the footage ever going to be edited on the Axio system?

If it is captured, you're dealing with the Matrox codec - I would think easiest thing to do is to capture in Vegas as a .m2t file - otherwise you're going to need to render the Matrox Axio files into an intermediate such as Cineform in order for them to playback on the Vegas (non Axio) system -

I've got a buddy who's got both Vegas and Premiere with Axio on his system - if we're doing just Vegas work, it's a longer process to capture through the Axio card.

If the client will be working with the footage on the Axio system, he'll want to capture to that card because playback, etc will benefit from the Axio.

so... Cineform would be my choice but you'll need to pay for it.
