Yes. The breakout box has SVHS in/out, left & right in/out, and composite in/out.

Yes you can do this, but I have to say that the incredibly bad experience I had with an RT2500 has convinced me to never purchase a matrox capture card again.

It took many hours of work (like 80+) just to get things stable so that using the card wouldn't crash the system. And even after that, the captured video had some sort of wierd problem that caused issues later when it was transfered to DVD. I never did figure out what was actually wrong with the video that was captured.

I replaced the RT2500 with a Canopus ADVC1394 card and haven't had a single problem with the Canopus card. The card worked perfect as soon as I installed it.

In fairness, I think there probably are people that have successfully used the RT2500, but it has to be in exactly the right type of system (on a motherboard that Matrox has tested - most of which are fairly old).
