Until it is restored, using custom media bins for new imports helps to keep things organized so you can easily get to what you just imported.

It is annoying, especially when you add a bunch of media to an existing project and want to know which is which.

And I just drag from the Explorer window to the timeline. No need to "import" and then locate in the media pool.

I don't go direct to timeline with any video or audio. I am a trimmer user.

Custom media bins... So let's say I import 50 clips from camera 1. I make a custom bin called "Cam 1". I import my clips into it. Later on, camera operator 1 brings me more shots from his camera. I want to add those to cam1, and be able to get to them easily among all those other 50 clips I already imported into that bin. VEGAS doesn't highlight them anymore, so to get around that, I make a sub-bin inside the cam 1 bin called cam1 import 2. That keeps my different imports separate until I get them placed where they need to go on the timleine. From there, if I want to tidy up and not have a ton of sub-bins for each import, I can drag the clips in the cam 1 sub bins into the main cam 1 bin and then delete the Cam 1 sub bins, after I've already done my trimming and placed the clips onto the timeline. This works in the mean time, until this can be fixed. I'll make sure the team is aware this functionality needs to be restored, if they haven't seen this already.
