I read of another interesting video sharing site, think it's called Revver. The deal there seems to be that contributers get a slice of the advertising pie, this idea I like.
It's the 250 humongous-ion - I think I heard 250 million - downloads PER day?!? Somebody is just gonna have to tap into this and say enough already with the licensing restrictions. I wouldn't like to police this one.
It is getting ever so more interesting more quickly.
My thoughts? I don't think that we have even scratch the surface of this licensing thing yet. What with the scale of the Internet and the convergence of many MANY types of devices - it is going to be a colossal universe of share and compare - the like of which we ain't EVER seen and presently can only vaguely, dimly dream about!
Do you have any idea what these companies are loosing?
It seems to be greater than the GDP of many countries. And the really staggering bit is the more they loose the more their share prices goes UP.
In the end somehow all this bandwidth has to get paid for, well actually it doesn't really, the real cost of bandwidth is minute compared to what we get ripped of for it.
Bob, "Do you have any idea what these companies are loosing?" nope, no idea. But the times are changing and changing fast. However "these compaines" are going to find "other" ways to make up the difference - will they cosnider pulling the plug?
As I say, very VERY interesting times. Times that are going to make all our heads spin. It would appear that the rule book is being written and re-written the next day.
I'm looking forward to the day where all these business models have long passed on, and we can all live with indefiniteness in our ever-expanding interplanetary robot-driven insanely-relative apathetic society. Ah I can only daydream of watching my children race ahead of the daily clichés passing by faster than you can type wtf. I can't wait to live in a world where almost everything retains some temporal nostalgia and age is completely meaningless. Oh what a night it will be, as my friend and I read the poll that claims more than one half of humanity spends more than half their lives in virtual reality, as we debate the ethical discussion to the clashing swords of a great Egyptian battle in our shared simulated zone. I am overjoyed thinking about what it will be like to have rediscovered silence in a world of infinite chatter that floods the very fabric of space. I'll watch society slowly but surely merge work and play into a seamless edutainment. I'll think back to when I said...
