Just attempted to do a Media Manager Update and got an "Unexpected Error" and Vegas crashed out . . .

Tell me something . . I just captured 30 odd clips to a drive, put in a "Search" in MM and waited. It didn't find the new clips. I then did this UPDATE - hoping that that would do it . .and then got this Vegas crash out. I had the same crash-out yesterday when doing an UPDATE.

Any thoughts?

Grazie

Hi, Grazie!

Now listen very carefully! (pun about "listen"). Get up from your computer, walk quickly to your closet, open closet door, remove "Sony jacket" from hanger, put on jacket with a firm and smooth movement, walk with a "positive attitude" back to computer chair, set in chair, make sure "Sony jacket" is reflecting back off LCDs screens, now retry MM. If MM fails to work, keep adjusting the "sony jacket" reflection on screen until MM responses.

Tricky question, Grazie. On the face of it, on the information you've given, should have worked (that is, in my experience). Just for my benefit, bear with me on the process:
you clicked on the acquire icon, then selected folder to be searched, clicked "new files only", then "search", the search bar wound its way to 100%, you clicked "close" and then you found under "tags" a new "scan date". But somewhere along that path it stopped. Where?

Edit: of course you also identified the type of file (audio/video/etc)

Serena - thanks for the "tips" I'll put them into practice. No, I didn't do what you say. I repeated the UPDATE as per the successful way I had done before. Nothing selected - just UPDATE. The bar moved along, as per previously and then stopped. Then after about .. . maybe 5 mins I got the "Unexpected Error" message and the program and vegas closed down - puffff!

OK, so what I'll do, over the weekend, is to follow your instructions and see if I can get/repeat the ERROR.

Regards,

Grazie

Ah, not really "tips" -- just what I thought was the procedure. Now can't remember if that was the method on the VASST video or just what I stumbled onto.

Grazie, I think UPDATE just updates the reference files for stuff held in MM, rather than MM itself. However it's quite astonishing how quickly I can forget the foundations of my knowldege, so end up with a whole lot of procedures that work just fine but find I'm struggling to remember their basis and therefore their generality. Always have to go back to fundementals, which takes time and I haven't done it on this question!
