media?

I tried using DVD-R and it doesn't work. Why not. The package says that it is recordable media. If this wont work, which DVD media do I need to buy?

Think we need a little bit more information so tell what is not working and what burner/software you are using. Did you have problems before etc.

I am using a Toshiba DVD+R/RW on a laptop with windows XP home. This is my first time trying to burn a DVD. Maybe the (+) in the above may be the problem?

If your burner only supports burning +R media, then you can't burn -R with it. This would be a little unusual since most new burners now support burning both formats, but it could be the reason.
