Media Bin = Big SlowDownMachine...

Hi all, I must be something wrong so I'll explain...
I want to put order in 29 DV tapes already stored on my drives. So I opened Media bin in a new file I named "Classification".
I went into my drives to add all my clips ("select all" then right-click then "add to media bins"). Now, everything's under "all media".
With all of these 29 tapes added now, my machine takes forever to do whatever I "ask" for. I tried with different views (Details, Thumbnails, etc...) with no difference.

What's wrong?

...mmmm, just noticed my system is doing some little weird things now. All of this must be a Win problem since it happens out of Vegas too. I'll probably re-install with "repair" option to see what happens...
The bad thing is I'll have to re-do all the tweakings right after.

Have you loaded ~29hrs worth of DV in the media pool? If so, opening all that media at once is a pretty heavy load and I could see how your system would bog down some.

I started editing a feature film and had somehting like this happen. I created all the bins and loaded in all the media and the first time as it was loading VV caused the system to lock up. Rebooted and loaded VV and the project - got up to something like "loading file 249 of..." and it again locked up and froze. On the third time all media "loaded" and since then it has run fine on the project. Other people seem to have had problems when importing lots of stills. It seems to be some sort of 'first load' type problem with large projects.

Ok. Seems WinXP is still not bad after all.
Yes indeed, I realize it's a pretty heavy load. Therefore, I noticed I better go through Explorer and fill up my bins from there instead of managing all of this thru MediaBin cause every time I get back to "all media" to look at my shots, it's tedious and heavy for my poor (now) little Athlon 1000...
I did a pretty good "pre-classify" job and now I guess I'll be able to manage things all from within MediaBin since I won't have to open AllMedia every time; just have to remain in the "sub bins" and do it all from there.

I noticed I can't use my space bar to play the shots from MediaBin. It works well from Explorer though. Is that normal?
