Media bin choking ... Vegas 10.0

Copied over clips from the Canon camcorder, 190 of them, each one was short. Total size was about 1gb. I cannot dump them all at once into the media-bin. Vegas stops working! I tried bringing them in in bunches of 50, but even then Vegas stop working after about the third bin deposit. So I decided to bring in only a 3rd of them, and render them into an mpg file. Did this three times. Then brought in the 3 combined video files and all was well for editing and the program ran fine.

Why does Vegas-10 choke on 190 small mpg files?

The same problem here. The program hangs when importing more than 120 mpeg clips. Handling of mpeg clips is very bad. On my new Dell Studio 17, with Windows 7 64 bit, I cannot even play a project consisting of mpeg clips. My work-around is convert to DV-AVI first. Ik can import more than 400 DV-AVI's at once without 'a blink of an eye'. DV-AVI's don't give any problems.

Can the OP and you please provide camcorder info (file type, resolution, bit rate, etc...)? Without that might be difficult to help troubleshoot.
