media file offline

Hello,

I recently renamed a video file while in the project file window. I then inadvertently double clicked the file and now when I select the renamed file it's saying "media file offline". When I look in the capture folder the file is gone. What causes something like this to happen. and is this irreversable?

Thanks,
tdsilk

Locate that file in Windows Explorer. It probably no longer has a file extension. Rename it again from there.

Hi!, you must refresh the vegas explorer each time you rename or add a new file. When you find it, drag it to the media window to create a new clip; or rename it as the original name was or you will need to recapture.
Hope this help.

If you change the name of a file there is no need to recapture or rename it back again (as long as the file extension is still the same). Find the "offline file" in the media pool, right click on it, and select the option to replace the file. A browse dialog will let you select the correct file.
