For some reaason I am only able to load so many AVI files into the Media files folder. I get the sound but not the video. Video factory20c also hangs up.

Odd- I just loaded 500 DV avi files in the media pool and the timeline of VF 2.0c. What type of avi files are these? Did you capture them with SF Video Capture?

one more: search on aviplug.dll
what version is aviplug.dll?

Check under preferences and tick "Always Use Sonic Foundry DV Reader"

Before I ticked this, it would crash after displaying about half of the thumbnails.

No I captured them with my sony vaio capture s/w. I have a sony DV camera and a sony 380ds vaio digital machine.
