Media: Fuji Versus Philips? (Ritek?)

I was just curious as to people's opinion on Philips +R media.

At Best Buy, they have a spool of 100 Philips +R disks for about $140.

I have been using Fuji +R media with good success, but a spool of 100 Fuji +R disks is $190.

A $50 difference for essentially the same thing is pretty substantial.

Any opinions on Philips +R media?

Thanks for the input!

Oh, No! Never! Never! Unless it is an absolute emergency buy retail. You should never pay over $1 for media. The best media out there "Ritek" will only cost you $0.94 each with dvd cases. The cheapest worst media will only run $0.53. I suggest you surf out of www.meritline.com. Most of the media they sell is free shipping. Unless you by low quantities, 50 or less. The retail places are jacking up the prices and making a fortune. They will rope you in with rebates and then will be mysteriously out of stock when you arrive at the store and up-sell you to something you didn't come to buy. You should always do a search online for what you are about to buy in the store. That way you know how badly you are getting screwed, before you get to the register. And to answer your question fuji and philips are good. Ritek is GREAT. Read the reviews... Do a google search. You will see.

Thank you for the info.

I ordered a quantity of 25 from Meritline and will see how it goes.

I have previously been buying the cases and spools of blanks trying to save money, but quality media is of the utmost importance; even if more expensive.

Question: My 2.4x quantity of 25 came to $1.20 per disk with the case.

I saw nothing in the less-than-a-dollar per disk category.

Is this maybe for quantities for 100+? Would I probably have to call them?

I want to check out the 25 disks first before ordering 100.

Even at $1.20 per disk with the case, I am coming out ahead. It would be nice to be less than a dollar per disk with the case.

In the past, I had read very good things about Ritech disks, but I had forgotten about them.

Thanks for the info!
