What don't you like? What are your trying to design?

The list of files you can import is large so I will say without
having Studio products that you should be able to.

With all the good folks that use Vegas I am sure we can save you
money by giving you some pointers!

There are a lot of options available for titles but Studio 9 or 10 is not one of them in my book. I have downloaded 50 additional fonts that I use in Vegas. For $50 you can buy Bluff Titler.

The real question is will you be able to EXPORT it from Studio 9/10 and I believe the answer is NO. Not with an alpha channel. And why would you buy Studio just to make titles? Buy yourself a title program instead. There are lots to choose from. (Bluff, Graffiti, Cool 3D, Heroglyph, Swish, etc.)

Thanks to all.
What I want to do is this:
A scrolling text where I can choose the space between the lines of the text. (The space should be smaller then the default setting).
Also I have to put subtitles on a film, I wonder, once I have the first event on the timeline, how can I repeat all the following events so that the text is always on the same place?
I Hope this makes sense to somebody.

You can use the Sony Credit Roll built right in Vegas for this. Just go into the Style tab and change the space before and space after to make the lines of text closer together or further apart.

For consistent text you can either:

A) Ctrl+Drag to make a copy the first event and change the text

B) Copy the text event and Paste Attributes to the new event (this will also paste the text so you need to change it to what you want)

C) Save the text event as a preset and then apply that preset to all other text events (also changes the text).

Take your pick.

Eric,
you can also import a word doc to the text generator, and apply whatever you want there. Build a monster text file, then use pan/scan to 'roll' the credits.

Ctrl+Drag to make sub-titles works Ok.
Importing a text made in Word is working fine too, so I'll stick to this way of working.
So no need for Studio 9 now. Bluff Titles seems a nice program for when I want to make some fancy titles.
Thank you all for the help.

I checked out the Bluff website and am thinking of buying their titling software.

Does anyone recommend it, or is there a better one I should go for?

Seeing that you have not yet discovered the full capability of the Vegas MG I suggest you spend a few weeks playing and learning it to see if there really is any specific function you want that is not there. Then that specific item will dictate your choice of a third party package.

The Vegas FXs and MG screens all look basic and restrictive if you just open them without studying a tutorial or having completed a Vegas training course, but once you fully understand them they are very powerful.

for oops,
I just got the newest version of Bluff Titler. So far I love it. It was inexpensive and can do a ton of stuff. I also have After Effects 6.5 and the built in text presets are incredible simple to work with and export for Vegas or as swf files for a website (or also in swf format for inport to Vegas) So I am satisfied that I should be able to create just about any title effect I would ever need or want. There are so many that can be cheesy that the real art is toning them down and making them more elegant.

Tom - thanks for your recommendations - agree about toning titles down. Will get Bluff to start with for now.

MH Stevens, thanks for your reply. I have played with MG a fair bit for titles, but find it way too time-consuming for the type and amount of work I'm doing. It's better than having too much time on my hands for lack of work - so no complaints there!

Have a great New Year all.
