Media Generator - TEXT

Jacob - MP wrote on 12/16/2007, 11:14 AM
Hi,

I just bought a Vegas Video Studio Platinum 8.0. I'm having hard time putting good animated text on my movie. It's not like the Microsoft Movie Maker where there are many good animated text to drop on your project. Please, I need some help. Is there any pre-made animated text available in the market? I'm looking for animated text other than those available on the Vegas Movie Studio media generator. Thanks!

Text and titling is a bit disappointing in Vegas at first sight. Once you get used to Vegas, you can do pretty amazing things with texts (adding video effects, working with layers, keyframes and transitions.)

Ivan123,

Thanks! But is there any pre made animated text in the market that I can buy?

Actually you can use the text effects in Movie Maker. In Movie Maker, just create a lime green background and add the text. Then export to DV AVI and use that file in Vegas movie Studio overlay track and apply chroma key.

You can also check out BluffTitler. It works quite well and can make some very inpressive text presentations.

I have to plead ignorance... What is "BluffTitler"? I too am a beginner and struggling with making text exciting. For example, how can I make 4 words come on screen one at a time and stay there? I can't find a way to make multiple text layers that would allow me to bring in a new word but leave the other one(s) there.

Thanks!

BluffTitler is a software package that makes some very interesting 3D and animated title sequences. It is easy to use and the website has an ever increasing array of examples that people have created. You can check their website at www.blufftitler.com. I have been using it for a while now and it has come in very handy.

Hi Chris,

BluffTitler cost is CAD $63.53. I'm just wondering if this software is worth to buy. Is there any other software available that I can compare with? Thanks!

Jacob,

I am in no way an expert. I am far closer to being a newbie. You might try downloading the free trial version and see if you like it. I would also recommend that you click on the "Gallery" link and look at the examples that others have done. The beauty of the Gallery is that virtually all of the examples are fully operational templates that you can use once you buy the full version.

As far as other packages out there to buy, I just don't know. I saw several posts from people recommending BluffTitler and that is what led me to check it out and eventually buy it. I do have to say that the support you will get from the developers of BluffTitler is really great.

Good luck.

Thanks for the link to blufftitler - I looked into it, and had to buy it within 5 secs of playing with it - it's awesome. I wish this was in Vegas!

I bought the BluffTitler but my problem is the black background is not tranparent. I follow the instruction in exporting my animated text (i.e., Uncompressed AVI with transparency). I'm not sure if the problem is in my Vegas Video Studio or on the BluffTitler. Please, I need suggestion to make my background transparent. Thanks!

Jacob - I wish I could help. I manage to stumble through but unfortunately have not figured out all the aspects of either program. I would recommend that you try sending an email to BluffTitler. They have always gotten back to me very quickly. Sorry I cant offer more.

Why don't you just chrroma-key out the black on your text video file - then Vegas will consider the black to be transparent and all is good.
