I've just installed my upgrade to V6, media manager and all. Populated my "default" library via a scan of media on my main "library" directory. I even selected the option that instructs MM to add tags according to the context of the media, whatever that is meant to do.
Now I have a default library of 3000+ media items, all of which have a tag indicating the date of the scan and little else. Some of the clips for the the Sony-provided FX files have appropriate tags, but that's it. In fact, some of my .wma files are tagged as both video and audio.
My question is: how do you guys use the Media Manager? Obviously, it isn't practical for me to go through my defualt library clip by clip and assign anywhere from 1 to 5 (or more) tags appropriate for that clip. That would not be worth the time, I think. Seems to me that with the absence of these tags, the MM library is little more than a Windows Explorer window....without the directory structure.
Do you guys create a new MM library for each project, with only that project's clips? I had hoped to use MM to manage all of my "library of media" on my PC.
Any tips and insights on your use of MM would be helpful!
