Media manager in VP10?

I'm struggling with media manager in version 10. It's likely user error, for either no one else uses media manager (unlikely) or no one else is encountering the same issue (I've done a search) but it is driving me spare.

I media manager with previous versions, have (at least, so I thought) installed it with version 10 but cannot seem to be able to get it to work. It's checked in preferences, but when I go to the view menu and and select media manager a blank window opens up with no menu bar, options or anything other than a handle to drag it and an arrow to make it full screen. Right clicking/double clicking does nothing. There's just a blank, tabbed window called media manager with no function whatsoever.

Some screen shots:

Here it is when opened via the view menu:

and when dragged into the tabbed area. Note lack of menu bar or anything useful.

Any suggestions? Should I get my VP8 installation disc out and install the older version of media manager to see if that works?

I'm using Windows 7 64bit on an i7 machine with 8gb RAM.

There was a post about this recently. The OP had similar issues and solved them by downloading Media Manager and re-installing it. He also was able to use it in previous versions but it "disappeared" in V10.

Yes, I saw that post (it was the only one that came up when I searched the forum) and added the very same question there, but I find it hard to believe that he and I are the only two people to have experienced this with VP10 and that the only workaround is to use an older version of media manager.

Also, the previous thread was heading downlist faster than a speeding bullet, so I thought I'd start afresh.

I can't seem to find a download page for media manager on Sony's site (at least, nothing of use comes up when I use the search function on the software page) so I guess I'll have to install a much older version. The newest that comes up when I search Sony's download page is for VP8

Was there no media manager for VP9, either?

I find this odd, as I found it to be very useful. If others aren't using media manager to log and categorise clips, what is everyone else using?

Edit: I tried to install media manager from my version 8 disc and it told me that media manager was already installed (I thought I could recall installing it).

It's there, but just non-functional.

I think you can safely assume that the version of MM that shipped with Vegas 8 is the latest version. You just drew the short straw and "lost" yours along the way I guess.

Right you are, too. I was just about to add another edit to my post. I checked the version I had downloaded with VP10 and it was the same version of MM on Sony's download page associated with VP8.

I downloaded it again, just to be on the safe side, uninstalled the crippled version on my computer and installed the new version. MM is now there when I open VP10.

Thanks.
