Media Manager Install Log?

I to am having the dreaded install failures. No amount of deleting and reinstalling seems to help; I have read and followed every suggestion on this site and others. Win XP SP2 .

Sony has yet to respond to my request for online help.

Here is log:

One strange thing (may be a clue) is that this log keep appearing in a folder under Sonic Foundry named DVD Architect 2.0 that the install creates.

D:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry\DVD Architect 2.0\plug ins\Media Manager\MSSQL$SONY_MEDIAMGR\LOG

I have deleted this folder several times and the install keeps creating it.

Any help would be appreciated.

The install location is very unusual. The Media Manager directory is installed to a location we use for "shared plug-ins" which are shared across our applications. So having it somehow end up inside a product specific directory such as DVD Architect 2.0\plug ins smells like something is corrupted installation wise.

You could try this:

1. Make sure you have your serial numbers for each product written down somewhere (use Help > About if you can't find them)
2. Uninstall all Sony Media Software & Sonic Foundry software using add or remove programs.
3. Uninstall Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (SONY_MEDIAMGR) using add or remove programs.
4. Using regedit, carefully delete these areas:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Sonic Foundry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Sony Media Software
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Sonic Foundry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Sony Media Software

5. Completely delete D:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry directory
6. Reboot and start installing fresh.

If this is on a dual boot machine, ignore this comment, I would have to think of a more technical response...

I noticed you have your Program Files on the D:\ drive.

I would recommend installing only on the C:\ (or system) drive. I had a separate Program Files drive at one time, and while many things worked OK, I had many problems with many programs, particularly Vegas 4 and Acid 3.

Whether it was Windows fault or the software maker's fault is immaterial. After I did my yearly clean install of everything, I put my programs all on my system drive, and no more problems. Poof, gone. Everything worked perfectly, and still works perfectly. Now only my temp files, swap file and all of my data are on the other drives.

Gents,

Thanks for the help!!!

Editing the register solved the problem.
