Media Pool

When doing a long project the Media Pool gets too full of clips and they also get placed in alphebetical order which, of course, makes newly added clips distributed with older (already used) clips.

Is there any way to remove used clips so the added clips are more easily viewed without deleting them from the timeline? I was thinking of something like grouping them into a folder.

I don't know about removing things from the media pool, but some people don't use it at all. One option is to drag and drop things from Windows Explorer but I use a media organiser called Media Center which, amongst other things, allows me to do some rough storyboarding before dragging and dropping a selection of clips / stills.

If you switch to "Detailed" view you can sort by the "Use Count". Not quite as elegant as putting things in folders (which I believe only Vegas 5 supports).

Later, if you want to remove all unsed clips, go to the "Tools" menu and select "Clean Media Pool."
