Media Preview

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie so forgive the basic questions I'm sure to have.

The help file said I should be able to click on a file in Windows Explorer to preview a file. When I click on PLAY I am hearing the file, but not seeing it. Am I missing something? If I right click on the file I can tell Windows Media player to open it up and play it, but do I need to go outside the program to preview the files?
Thanks!

Could be the eternal codec-issue :-)

If you have the trouble with a not so common file i.e. an AVI file then please search this forum for "avi codec".

Are you sure the volume is up?

nancyb,
You must have misread my question. I can hear the file, but cannot see it.

Since I'm new to all this, I'm not even sure what an AVI file is. But I checked the extension of the file I was trying to use and it was .mpg

Is that what I was supposed to check?

Yes, you are right.

There is a free program called GSPOT which can analyze a file and check whar codec it uses and also if this codes is installed on your machine.

The program can be found through Google and is easy to use.
