Memorex DVD media is not generally considered to be of particularly high quality. Personally, I have had excellent results with Mitsui, Verbatim and TDK media.

I too have heard bad things about Memorex DVD’s and won’t buy them. I use Fujifilm DVD-R’s have had no problems with them.

I have a couple Memorex DVD-RW discs that I use for home testing, but I would never give that brand to a client. They have a low compatibility rating.

I had forgotten to mention FujiFilm, I've had good luck with them as well. The particular FujiFilm discs I used were actually made by "Taiyo Yuden", a very respectable manufacturer of blank CD and DVD media.

There are a lot of brands of DVD media out there and, even within the same brand, any number of manufacturers may have made the discs. You can download the following freeware application that will tell you who actually made the discs. It also gives you a bunch of other interesting information about the DVD media and drive.
