Memory leak in the new VidCap 6.0

Anyone else noticed this? The new version of VidCap 6.0 that comes with Vegas 8 seems to have a memory leak. Each time i capture a file it's memory usage goes up another 20 to 50MB. After a few captures it will eventually hit about 350MB and then Vegas starts thrashing through page files and everything slows to a crawl. Kill VidCap and Vegas jumps back to lightning fast.

For now i've switched back to using the VidCap 6.0 that came with Vegas 7 and all is well. Seems curious that it's obviously a new version, but is still called 6.0.

New version? I never noticed. I can never get it to work successfully for any DV capture whatsoever.

I never run Vegas and Vidcap at the same time and come to think of it I'm still using the Vidcap that came with V5. If it ain't broken why flix it.

Ah, maybe the problem isn't Vidcap at all, others are reporting issues with Vegas gobbling memory every time you add a clip to the project media, could this be related.

There is no new version of VidCap.

Marco,

That may be true about the versions but I can assure you there is a difference in either the programs themselves or the environment they create to run. I have an array of problems with the VidCap that came with VP-8. So many that the program is useless for my needs. None of them are issues with the VidCap from V-7. Thank goodness... I look forward to an update of VP-8 that corrects the VidCap problems.

Marco, the Vegas 8 VidCap60.exe file size is a few Kbytes bigger than the Vegas 7 version, so it's been recompiled with something added.

l think the "something added" is the new "memory leak feature."

EDIT:
Okay, sorry; couldn't resist.

"l think the "something added" is the new "memory leak feature.""

At least they didn't charge you extra for the added functionality.
