I don't usually burn Blu-ray.. more typically DVDs. This year I have a few clients that wanted Blu-ray so I'm authoring/burning both Blu-ray and DVD for them.. testing it on my TVs Blu-ray player I"m having a problem. Also some oddities with VLC.
On the Blu-ray SET (on TV), the "MENU" button does nothing -- so the viewer can't exit the title to go back to the menu in an obvious way.
The hierarchy is (simplified for purposes of this post):
TOP MENU
-- Watch (plays the video, which has chapters)
-- Behind the Scenes (plays a video)
-- Photo Montage (plays a video)
Regardless of which of those is chosen, the user can't exit back to the menu using the MENU button. I did check in DVD-Architect and the remote buttons are all enabled, and should be working. When testing in DVD-A's "preview" it all works properly. Using the Blu-ray player's remote, the "GUIDE" button does indeed return to the menu, but the MENU button does nothing. (NOTE: when using VLC on my computer to test, the "MENU" button does return to the menu)
Testing using a DVD authored for the same project, played in that same Blu-ray player, the MENU button works properly.
PROBLEM 2 -- on VLC when the menu reaches the end, instead of LOOPing (as it is set to do) it automatically plays whatever title is currently selected on the menu. When played on the Blu-ray desk (on TV) it loops as expected.
DVDs work properly on all platforms.
What's going on???!!
