Kinda, sorta...

One way is to use a 'transition' video consisting of a clip that incorporates a snapshot of your menu fading to black. The beginning of the movie would have to fade up from black to complete the effect.

Potential issues:

- with motion menus, the motion ceases when the selected button is activated. It works better with a still background, as the transition video begins with the same 'frozen' image.

- the fades to and from black will be of unknown duration, because the seek times between the menu and the start of the movie vary from player to player. In some cases, the length of time at black level may be uncomfortably long.

Thanks, I ahve been away for a few days. How do I take a snapshot in DVD Architect? I know how to grab a frame in Vegas Pro, but not in DVD Architect.

Thanks
Ken

Here's a free tutorial I created that shows how to add a transition between menu pages. The principle could also be applied to adding a transition between a menu page and a video.

Is it what you're looking to do?

Hi Steve

Yes, it is. I will have to fiddle a bit with the sizing of the clip. When I created a clip that faded to black, where the menu changed to the clip that I created, the size was slightly out.
I have Ulead DVD Movie Factory, which has settings that allow you to fade both in and out of a menu with no effort at all and I was hoping that there was a way that it could be done in DVD Achitecht.

Thanks again
