Did you author a project with a menu? The default DVDA menu projects should cause your DVD to start on the menu - does it?
Are you talking about fast forward/reverse, or chapter skip when you talk about "search?" if it's chapter skip, does your movie have any chapter marks in it?
Yes i authored the project with a main menu which contains 4 submenus...my question is...
.How come when im watching the dvd..then i decide to hit the "menu" button on my remote..its dosnt go to the main menu....it simply gives me that symbol of the circle w/ the line though it, indicating that the button is nonfunctional ???
also on the chapters ..you're right i didnt author in any chapters ..but im still wondering about the "menu" thing.?
Well, I'd check to make sure you didn't accidentally disable the button. If you have your original project, navigate into the movie, in the properties screen on the right you'll see "remote buttons" - expand it, in the list you'll see "menu" - make sure it says "on"
yes, thats the whole thing....it says on..in fact all of the remote functions are "on" and enabled...
Im to the point where Im looking for a new software... ...this is embarassing in front of my dvd authoring clients ........This problem is giving my company a bad smell..please advise....
The only way to really know what's going on is to use VOBedit and see what DVDA actually specified for the navigation commands. There's a possibility that it's your DVD player; maybe the button that says "menu" isn't really what the DVD expects as a command for getting to the menu?
Have you tried this by playing the DVD with Windows Media 9 player? If it works in WM9 player, then I'd begin to suspect your remote/player.
If you suspect it might be an authoring issue, I'd first make sure you've downloaded the latest DVDA and trying to author with it. If that doesn't fix things, then snag a trial copy of DVD Lab or DVD Lab Pro - it's fully functional for 30 days - do a quick test project and see how it goes.
It does the same thing in all dvd players that I've sampled the disc in....an it does it on all of my projects...and the on is always enbabled...i dont get it?
No, I'm not on the tech staff. I'm just sitting here waiting for a project to finish rendering and another project to finish capturing and surfing the web.
The latest version of DVDA a 2.0b - check your help/about drop down to make sure you have the latest.
In DVDA check the Menu button action, what does DVDA think you want the player to do? You may have something like "Most recent menu" and it thinks this should be a non existant object. Perhaps specifically liknking to the object you want it to go to will cure your problem?
Note also that the specified actions realte to where you are in the DVD. For example if you have a video clip called "Movie" then you need to navigate to that object by double clicking on its icon and then seeing what the remote buttons are set too. There's a bit more to some of this than meets the eye.
Other question, does the thing work right in DVDAs preview?
