Menu Transition Cutting Through Black

So I've created a menu from the footage of my film: A truck drives into frame, text flies into the air out of the bed, which become buttons, the one you select stays and fades out and the rest fall into the truck and it drives away.

I've got it in three sections. The INTRO is the truck driving in and the text flying out of the bed into position. The menu LOOP is an 8 second loop of video and audio of the truck just standing still with the buttons waiting to be pressed. Four OUTROS, which are the selection specific animations.

Here's the problem, between the INTRO and the menu LOOP, it goes to black and comes back in. I've tried INTRO as introduction media, and the menu LOOP on the default menu. I've tried INTRO as the background to the default menu and linking to a submenu which is the menu LOOP with the buttons. regardless, between these two it always goes through black. when clicking on a button, however, and transitioning from the menu LOOP to the OUTRO, it never goes through black.

Is there some basic structure that i'm missing here. I kind of thought that introduction media is normally trailers, warnings, etc., but i'm pretty sure that i want this clip as part of the menu itself. How do I incorporate this into my menu?

one of two things:
a) the time of the intro is longer then the video length (IE the intro video is 5 seconds but the intro defaults to 10)

b) there's a frame or two of black @ the end of the truck intro video. Ignore what you rendered, double check the video itself in DVDA. I've had this happen before. If it's a frame of black, in DVDA move the end media marker one frame back.
