Menu Transitions

Is there a way to create transitions in and out of menus?

I was just given a rather interesting project where the new DVD's are supposed to look and act as much like the previous ones in the series as possible. I didn't do the previous ones.

This is an excercise series with the exercises being done in a swimming pool, so to go along with the theme all of the menus kind of ripple/dissolve out to the movie or to another menu.

I haven't thought about it that long yet, but so far I haven't got a clue how to make something like this happen with DVD Architect. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Yes you can depending on the version....which version do you have?

End actions
Loop points

are some keywords to search for. Plan on paper your flow and if you want
describe a bit in more detail so we can help.

I have version 4B.

Imagine the monitor screen as a pan of water lying flat on a table. Now imagine droping a small stone into the pan, and the ripples it will create starting from the center of the frame moving out. This transition is used each time one clicks on a menu button to go to another menu or to a chapter point. We don't see the stone, there is no splash, and it's a bit slower than it would be in real life - perhaps a bit more hypnotic, but that's the general idea.

I also have to dig through my notes to see how I can lock a movie to prevent the viewer from skipping the disclaimer. This I know can be done, have even done it, just have to remember how. One of those senior moment kind of things. :)

Use this as a transition

use image without menu text and transition to with text.

You can also use this method going from menu with text to your chapter video.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Menu Page Properties --> Remote Buttons --> turn off each button as needed or
Media Properties --> Remote Buttons if you are using a video clip or still as your first play.

Thank you, that is going to work for what I want to do. Did a quick experiment rippling between different jpg's of my twins. I'm going to have to figure a few things out yet, and your suggestion of mapping things out on paper is dead on.

After doing some more exhaustive examination of the preceeding DVD's I noticed it doesn't ripple out to every chapter from the chapter menus. It ripples into the beginning of the program, and between menus only. That should make things much less complex.

May have more questions later once this project gets going, thanks for the pointer.
