menus / skip forward not working

trojanrobmc wrote on 5/11/2010, 12:49 AM
So here's the next weird issue I'm having...

If I burn a project as a DVD project, when I'm watching the disc, all of the menus pop up fine. Also, the "skip track" button (the one that's supposed to take you to the next item) on the remote control works just fine.

But when I change the settings in the same project to a Bluray, when I'm watching the disc, the only menu that works is the top menu. And even more annoying is that the "skip track" button does not work at all on bluray disc projects.

Am I missing something?

I am also having this problem. My created blu ray disc previews perfectly in DVDA pro but when playing the created disc in my blu ray player, the chapter skip (fowards and back) does not work. Only the scan (fowards and back) work. The settings are turned "on" for this in DVDA pro and these buttons work perfectly on the preview remote. Please Help!!!!

OMG thank God someone else is experiencing this.
I have wasted 2 50 gig blu rays today and am now on my second rewrite of this blu ray project.
Same here... end action of all events return to the proper (resent menu)
pressing menu (resent menu or actually specifying which menu)
brings it to the main menu and not the one indicated.
I have 3 menus. In preview mode it works perfect.
Once ISO is rendered and burned to disc.... all over.

Skip button not working for me either when I play my BDisc but Skip (next) works fine in Preview in DVDAPro. I noticed in Architect, in Menu Page Properties that "Next" and "Time/Search" were set to "Off" (I think all the other options were set to On) so I set those to "On" and burned again, but same result. I wonder if something is haywire with those settings, even when you set them to "On." Is the disc getting the message or does Architect go to "Off" again on those settings when it burns the disc. Hopefully someone will chime in here with an answer for us. I just got my BD burner and my hopes are high for what blu ray can do for my videos.

I can see that we are going to be forced to "purchase" one of Sony's BULL**** support plans to get this issue resolved. You would think that with a company of this size that they would at least provide free support to its customers.

For what it's worth, I've used the same project to burn a DVD and a Bluray. When I burn a DVD, the "next" button and DVD menu button work FINE. But simply by changing the project to a Bluray format, and burning a Bluray disc--causes the problems we see.

As a newly established wedding videographer, this program is already hurting my business. One of my customers brought to my attention that their blu ray wedding disc (which I spent weeks editing to perfection) was flawed by not being able to skip chapters. This embarrasses me to no end. To Sony: Why in Hell would you release support for blu ray disc creation with DVDA "Pro" with these errors in the program. One would think that YOU (sony) would test a program like this thouroughly before Selling to customers (like myself) who are trying to use this in a PROFESSIONAL setting. I will soon be switching to Adobe and use this program for my childrens birthday parties...

I am wondering why more users are not chiming in on our issue here. Is it because they don't make blu ray discs, or they don't care about the full functionality that we are expecting? I emailed Sony support and got a totally useless response, telling me to update the firmware on my new player. She obviously didn't bother to ascertain that the Pioneer BDRW BD-205 I was telling her about is a burner, not a player, and she showed no awareness whatsoever of the issue we are trying to resolve or any willingness to spend time on it. It's insulting and aggravating.

As for my 28 minute project (no fx, just dissolves between 50 clips), I burned a perfectly functional BD with Pinnacle Studio 14. Problem with that program is working with clips on the timeline; struggles with playback of avchd. Will try it some more later.

Think I'll post a new message with a different subject name and try to rouse some more interaction from other members of this forum. You can check for it. Good luck for now.

At least you got a response back on your issue. I posed a question to them on the same day I responded to this post regarding my issue with the (no root menu) issue. I've got no response.
I've had a blu-ray burner for two years now. Up to now I haven't made a detailed disc. I was just making basic file to blu-ray for my wedding shows.
This was my first of 4 new blu-ray wedding projects coming up and I am rather disappointed that the menu system is limited like this.
It's like putting a four cylinder engine in a Ferrari. I assumed at minimum it would do the functions a DVD could do and more.

I think I've figured it out!!!! I just created a blu ray project successfully with all buttons working (mainly the SKIP functions!!!). This is what I did differently: In DVDA menu page, I use image/text buttons. Instead of having the image and text only "touching" on the menu page, I had to drag the box over both the image and text to where they were included in the same box (as opposed to image in one box and text in another. Im kinda in a hurry and im sure that I could reword this differently to be better understood, but see if you can figure out what im talking about and post your experience under this topic. Ill try to help as much as I can.

Wow, that's pretty random. Good job.

Hmmm... Are you saying that the image and the text in the menu screen simply have to OVERLAP to make the skip and menu functions work properly?

BTW, one of my projects uses only image buttons, with no text. So I'm wondering how I would get THAT project to work properly.

Thanks!

Im saying that was the only change I made on my project and for some reason it worked. I am working on another project at this time and will repeat the same steps to see if I am successful again. Yes, Overlap, where the image and text are included in the same edit box. I have not yet created a menu with image only buttons, so I cant help you with that one at this time. Give my current "solution" a try and let me know if it works for you. I would like to hear other's experience with this method.
