Given all the gloomy prognostications regarding the future of VP, here's a bit of good news, a Mercalli 4 plug-in that allows batch stabiliztion. Also a plug-in for fixing CMOS distortion. I use the SAL of V4 which is quite impressive, but this should be even better--no more rendering out and importing back.
I hate to rain on the parade, but I have noticed the number of upgrade emails flying around for every conceivable Vegas plugin over the past few days. I know Sony have made the statement in the other thread that Vegas will continue to be supported, but there's a post as recent as two days ago over on Creative Cow which has the same story of demise. So where are we at? The original post was reported to have been made on CC, which released a s-storm here, which in turn seems to have fuelled more rumor on CC and elsewhere!
Sony had better make a very loud and bold statement about Vegas soon (and not just a forum post) or else many are going to take the flood of upgrade offers to mean "upgrade NOW -- we need your money before your host NLE becomes obsolete!".
DRS. Your comments seem more appropriate on this thread http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/showmessage.asp?messageid=931815 where there seems to be a cacophony of voices fearing the sky is falling. Even if Sony discontinued development/support for Vegas tomorrow, so what! All this pi**ing and moaning seems rather silly to me. Vegas will still continue to work for years to come. For those of us who do day to day editing using media sources that are often acquired under less than pristine conditions, the availability of such plug-ins is most welcomed. I just wanted to share what I think will be a very useful addition to one's Vegas toolkit--nothing less--nothing more.
@Grazie: it's the very fact the rumour is still circulating ... the post by Sony clearly hasn't quieted the rumor mill.
@wwaag: fine, sheesh, be like that, I'll get me coat ... but I won't be buying pr upgrading any Vegas plugins any time soon.
I have v4 SAL and like it a lot, so I'd like to "kick the tyres" of the plugin, but can't find a trial download on their website. The page for the link that Barry posted has a link within that page for the "free trial" of the plugin, but that link takes you to a download page that has demo versions many of their products, including v4 of the SAL and v2 of the Vegas plugin, but I don't see a v4 plug-in download link.
From what I have unearthed, yes you are correct. No matter in what direction I take I can only get back to a SAL Demo download. No obvious or up-front reveal of a Sony VP13 Plugin.
Maybe the existing SAL 4 Merc, clickable-icon d/l includes the Sony VP13 Plugin and ProDad haven't updated the graphics and text? Dunno . . . .
I downloaded and installed the plugin using the 2nd link provided by malowz (thanks!). With the v4 SAL I could place multiple clips in the SAL's input bin, select all of them and let it analyze all of them as a batch while I did something else. Then I could render all of them in batch mode.
I can't find a way in the v4 plugin to have it analyze multiple events in a batch. When I select multiple events in the timeline and add the plugin, all of them get the plugin (green cross showing on all the events) but when I click "Analyze", it only analyzes one of them.
Their website seems to indicate the batch analysis is done in the project media bin rather than the timeline, so I selected multiple events in the project media bin, added the plugin, and clicked "Analyze" in the plugin's interface. Nothing happens - no analysis is done.
Has anyone here been able to get batch analysis working?
pity they dont offer an upgrade offer to the v2 users (unless you bought it in 2013-2015)... that sucks! so basically because i purchased v2 version when it came out... i now need to buy a full version of v4 ;/
I would contact ProDad directly about your V2 upgrade. Maybe they changed their activation code design in 2013 and only the newer design/code works automatically through the website.
