Mercalli SAL cannot be re-activated, was previously in use.

I know that when Mercalli SAL hasn't been used for some time then it needs to be re-activated.

I entered the correct activation key but no luck. Get error message that cannot connect to prodad.de yet I can go to their web page.

That is an issue with proDAD. Like you, I hadn't used the SAL in a while. When I started it up, it asked for me to activate again. It happened with no problem. BUT.... running Mercalli V6 SAL, I too get the same error message.

I'd try later.

Mercalli V5 and V6 SAL activated. I had to reinstall Mercalli V5 Suite for Vegas Pro and activate it again. All is well now.

I received similar and can now activate SAL ver. 4.

Is there much benefit to SAL ver. 6. vs ver. 4.

Why not install the trial version of V6 and come to your own conclusion about that:

Personally, I don't like version 6 - there are no presets like Universal and Rock-Steady - so I continue using version 5 which is the same as version 4 but with some technical updates but no new features.

Oddly, the Merc 6 plugin for MAGIX branded NLEs (but not Vegas Pro) does include the presets.

The few times that I use 6 SAL is because it can do stabilisation better without 'ghosting' that can occur in 5 SAL in some unique circumstances.

Ok. Thanks for the analysis. I have enough stuff on machines without adding more trials.

Can it be installed on multiple machines?

Do you think it does stabilise better than ver. 4?

You'll need to check that with ProDad, but I think that it can be installed on more than one computer but can only be activated on one computer at a time.
