No because the update was for owners free, so I have the standalone Mercalli 5, but I don't see a plugin for Vegas . I used that in Vegas 16 , but don't need it in Vegas 17 where I use the Vegas owned Video Stabilizationn and when needed the standalone Mercalli 5
I think Kinvermark is talking about Mercalli 5 Suite for Magix Vegas. This Suite contains following plugins for Vegas and the SAL version: +Mercalli Stabilir PRO +Mercalli CMOS-Fixr PRO +Mercalli RT +Mercalli Picture Enhanzr RT +Mercalli Standalone Version (standalone program, SAL)
Mercalli RT promises to stabilize in real time without first analyzing the clip, something Vegas stabilization doesn't. This plugin is already several months available for Edius.
@fifonik I found it a little confusing... so if I understand it now, (I have v4 plugins + SAL) I will get a free SAL upgrade only to ver. 5, no plugins.
If I want the SAL and the plugins I need to buy the “Suite”.
Having done the free upgrade from SAL4 to 5 about 4 weeks ago, I am happy to have done so because I've noticed a general improvement in the solidity of the whole image when using the rock-solid setting (and Universal setting for that matter). While the centre of the image may well have been rock solid with 4, the outer areas of the image, particularly in the corners, would sometimes induce wobble, even when the Vibrations/Wobble Rolling Shutter Compensation setting has been enabled.. For many cases with 5, I've found that the outer wobble effect has been reduced or fairly much eliminated dependent on the shot itself. While there is no hope for some shots where the original handheld image is not all that steady, I am very pleased with improvement that SAL5 has made.
@JN- As you have Suite, you can download V5 SAL for free (I also have Suite and it was suggested free offer). I have not tried to do this as I'm not interested in SAL because all my workflow is withing VP.
V5 plugin named Mercalli Pro and it replaces V4 (installed in different folder, but under VP OFX Video Plugins folder the new plugin sits in proDADMercalli4Stabilizr.ofx.bundle folder and named as V4). I have not found any UI changes, everything looks exactly the same. So it is not possible to compare V5 vs V4 side by side in one VP.
Also, if you have project with V4, after installing V5 it is a good idea to re-check it. I have not tried to compare results yet.
I'd prefer to see separate instance "Mercalli V5" in VP :(
P.S. All above is NOT about Mercalli RT that is another beast.
OK installed the "Mercalli 5 Suite for Magix Vegas" properly now. Haven't done any serious testing, but looks pretty good to me. The RT feature is something I really like. :)
FYI, there is specific installer for Vegas: mercalli-50-vegas64bit.exe (I was using mercalli-50-magix64bit.exe)
I had to contact Prodad last night. Now I have installed the correct Mercalli RT 5 for Vegas. It's very nice indeed, except for me, it doesn't support stereoscopic video like Mercalli V4 plug-ins and earlier did. Am I the only one with tears?
@JN- … Merc 5 SAL is showing as build 5.0.460, but I do not have the Vegas Pro plugin. Though I could be wrong, my understanding is that the free upgrade to 5 is for the SAL only. To go to 5 for the VP plugin requires a purchase.
@Dexcon Thanks for that feedback, thats as I understand it also, although Kinvermark mentions the RT feature, as if it is really part of it, perhaps he also is only using the trial?
I installed Merc 5 Sal earlier, then tried the trial of the Suite to see what RT was like. I think as u say u have to say purchase the Suite to get the plugins via the upgrade price.
@Kinvermark I'm sitting here at the laptop with prodad site open, confused, and my initial thoughts from this new post of yours has me downright confused.😩
I'm debating again what to download. In my account, under service updates, i’ll try again (did all this early today and then removed, incorrect serial no.) i.e. download “Mercalli V5 SAL+ServicePack”. Its mercalli-50-sal64bit.exe.
@Dexcon Thanks for that feedback, thats as I understand it also, although Kinvermark mentions the RT feature, as if it is really part of it, perhaps he also is only using the trial?
Sure no. SAL is standalone. It does not come with plugins. If you installe V5 SAL, your V5 plugin is not updating and so in VP you will only see V4.
Well that worked this time, earlier I was asked to validate it and the serial no. for Sal 4 didn’t work, maybe I slipped up, who knows. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled v4 Sal and plugins.
It must have already picked up that it was activated, via ver 4, so no prompt for activation for Sal 5.
