Merge two video events

Hi,

How do I merge two adjacent video events to form a single event? I want them both to share the exact same properties and I'm doing slow motion across both of them, and since I want the velocity envelope transition from one event to the other to be smooth, I figured if I can find a way to merge these two clips, I can just apply the envelope to one event and not have to worry about that 'transition moment' across two clips when (even though the slow-mo percentage is the same across both events) there is a jump in the video, presumably because it inserts 'filler' clips differently across both events?

Thanks,
Kunal.

Here's the way I would do it :

In a blank project, put your 2 events side by side on the timeline. Save that project and call it whatever you want (let's say sequence1.veg)

Create a new project and drop sequence1.veg on the timeline, both of your clips will appear as one consolidated event.

You're done.

Nat's reply works if you have Vegas 6 with nested veg files.

If you don't, you can just render the files into one clip.

You don't even have to leave the project you are in. You can just select the two clips and under Tools use Render to New Track. Click "render loop region only so you don't render the whole project

kunal,
You should not need to merge them or prerender.

"inserts 'filler' clips differently across both events"

I never heard of that. What do you mean?

It works fine here by just applying two envelopes to two events butted up. Even with different speed settings. Plays through smoothly as expected. You might be doing something wrong with extra nodes or something. Do a ram preview to check real time playback.

Apply a velocity envelope to an event, right click on the first node and enter a value for the slo mo. Do the same on the second event.

Thanks all for your suggestions...I have Vegas 5, so I went with the solution of just rendering the two tracks as a new one and it works just fine...what was happening initially was that I had a 40% setting for the last node of the first clip and wanted this setting to carry over into the next clip -- somehow it wasn't doing that -- well, it was, but it was 'eating up' frames in the transition between the two clips -- which is what led me to speculate that reducing frames was vegas' way of doing slo-mo....but I could be completely off the mark here...

When you apply a velocity envelope for slow mo, you often have to then adjust the length of the clip. The velocity envelope alone does not adjust clip length A clip playing at 50% will take twice as long to play
