Metadata on timeline

Is there anyway to read the date/time video was shot and then display it on the timeline? None of the F/X's I've looked at do that. The data is obviously there because HDVSplit has no problem reading it, I just can't see anyway to display it on the timeline.

I am cataloging every tape in an Access data base and am trying to improve my workflow (that's the reason for the question).

Thanks!!!

No.

Long-standing issue.

Yes.... but Vegas can't do it on its own. I like to create a subtitle track in Vegas with the Time/date metadata which is displayed in my videos if you press the subtitle button.

I use HDVsplit to capture and label each scene with the time/date then import the scenes to Vegas. Then I use the 'quicklabels' feature found in EXCALIBUR plugin for Vegas which will construct a secondary track with the title of each clip (or in this case, the time/date of each clip) complete with region markers.

I will then use the (Sony supplied) script called "export regions as subtitles". This will create a subtitle track which is then imported to DVDa and burned along with the video/audio.

With cameras such as EX1 you can choose clock, or time of day time code, so the time code you can have visible in the timeline thumbnails will give you that info, then you can give the clips names to reflect the date, again in camera before you shoot.

This old link may provide a little help, even though it refers to DV, not HDV. Some of the tools may still be usable.
