I plan to utilize vegas pro on a laptop in conjunction with live music. The goal is to send a click track only to the drummer (obviously) and not to the sound board. Would the best bet be using an external midi clock?
i'm in an industrial band...and we use a backtrack and click track throughout the entire show...
most clubs are not running in stereo they are mono (the one's that i've seen)...we orchestrate our set and i record it onto VHS or DV...the left channel is the backtrack...the right channel is the click...send these two channels to your mixer...do not pan the two channels...keep them centered...assign the back track and the click to the headphone outs...for $149.00 he can get in ear headphones (he won't need anything but the piece that goes in the ears)...a mixers headphone outs should power them just fine...also assign the backtrack to a sub out and send this to the venues mixer...that way the drummer can hear the track and you can mix how much click he wants...my drummer grooves alot better if he can hear the music too...
by the way the mixer i'm using is a mackie 1604...you have to be able to assign channels to busses...i wouldn't trust my live show to bill gates for anything...don't do it...
