Mic preamp from old stereo

Now the world is moving to 5.1 there are a lot of good stereo amps just sitting around. I have a huge NAD 7700, 600 wats per ch peak from the days when they made them heavy. So I have started using it as my mic preamp. I use the power amp section to drive my monitor speakers, and the pre amp mic out I feed to the sound card. Works really well.

EBay is a great source for perfectly good electronics that have been put out to pasture. I recently found a very nice quality amp and speakers that when fitted to a heavy duty TV cart made a great "large room" sound capability for a 32 inch TV. Total cost with shipping was around $80.
