Midi

I would like to know How I can incorporate Midi with my Vegas audio 2.0 . Today we will be purchasing Roland V Drums and we would like to record them via midi instead of audio. What would you suggest for a good sequencing program that vegas would work well with.

We have cakewalk, but this program does not work well with my Delta 1010 sound card or computer for that matter.

MY Setup
Computer:
1000 mg Processor
256 Ram
20 Gig Hard Drive

Sound Card:
Delta 1010

Well, I'll probably get slammed for this but.....What I use for midi is Opcodes Studio Vision 2.5. This works perfect for me, it doesn't have any audio functions, but that's why I use it in conjunction with Vegas. The major problem is that Opcode went belly up ever since Gibson guitars took them over, so it is no longer available. Vision had been one of the best midi sequencers among pro's for the longest time on the MAC and PC side. I've tried Cakewalk and I've tried Logic audio and they seem to lack in a good user interface for me and they also don't do simple tasks that I use on a common basis as easily as Vision. For instance, in cakewalk try making a 2 bar loop, a 6 bar loop, and a 4 bar loop. Now make them loop together infinitely. It's a long task, basically you have to copy and paste to the common denominator of bars and have them all loop together. So in this example I would have to copy and paste the 2 bars until it was 12 bars long...and the same with the rest of the loops. With Vision I just put Loop bars around each track (ie :2:, :4:, :6:) and then they loop together. No copy and pasting needed and no math calculations.
Vision fits on 2 floppys so it is very small and I could probably even be able to email it. Send me an email if you would like to try it.
