Midi Control Surface Setup

PAW wrote on 4/25/2004, 9:09 AM

Can anyone help with the setup of a MIDI control surface in V5

I have an Edirol UR-80 and have configured the trnasport buttons and shuttle etc

I have the faders working on audio but if I turn on automation controls for the audio track the faders no longer work. Am I interpreting this correctly? Should I be able to use the faders as the track is playing to change the volume up/down in real time?

TIA, Paul

Yes.

PAW : You need to assign a button on your controller to toggle the record automation on and off.
You can find this in the assign section of the generic remote.

Gary thanks for the confirmation

Nat, your the man - I have it working now, the document isn't very clear on this, or should I say there isn't any :-)

This is way too cool, I would have upgraded to V5 just for this feature

Thanks

PAW, if you are using any generic surface, you can also assign any button to "Learn" it's place by pressing the Learn button, and then touching the knob/fader/key of the device you want to control a specific function.

Thanks Spot, Nat helped me out offline (thanks Nat) and I "think" I am on top of it now.

There does appear to be a problem though with V5 responding to the MIDI information. You have to move the faders a couple of times before Vegas responds.

I am sure that will be ironed out, the important point is having a control surface work with your NLE adds a whole new dimension....

Have fun at NAB?
