Midi Controller and Automation

I am using an external control surface, but am a bit confused... there doesn't seem to be any way to map the faders to control automation..? (I can control the volume and the pan without automation, but not with automation, and there doesn't seem to be any mapping for automation at all...) Am I just missing something, or is Vegas?

In the generic driver there is a global automation/trim fader toggle button that needs to be assigned. Goto OPTIONS>PREFERENCES>EXTERNAL CONTROLER&AUTOMATION click on the generic controler and select "ASSIGN" for the "View function group", and you will see a parameter for "Toggle Automation mode". Assign a button to this parameter, and that button will toggle between automation fader control and trim fader control.
