MIDI files; Can I use them in VMS9P-B?

Ok, so I'm just starting to add sound affects to my 2nd video. Searching the WEB I came across exactly what I wanted and downloaded a MIDI file. However VMS doesn't see it. I assume that's because it can't import it.

Is there some sort of conversion that would allow me to use/import it into my projects audio track?

I can't confirm or deny if Vegas is 'supposed' to recognize MIDI, but Audacity (free) will let you record/convert the MIDI:

MIDI files are data files, not sound files. VMS is not designed to use them directly.
The Sony program that works directly with midi in addition to sound files is Acid.
