MIDI for outboards

Vegas 4.0 has perfect automation for CPU-based plug-ins/effects. I'm very impressed how smooth are the graphical movements. I've never seen this smoothness before - neighter in Logic. Now i can really USE my favourite plug-in the Waves C1s/c..

(by the way : what about external sidechain possibilities?)

At this point i'm very happy with this, but when i look at my MPX-1, Fireworx and my FilterFactory i'm thinking : WHY THE BASIC MIDI IS MISSING from the Vegas 4.0?
There are MANY professional outboards which are controllable by CC. Most of you know very well how THOSE effects can work...

Vegas is a PRO product - but can't collaborate with the other PRO products...

All i need is graphic MIDI "FX" automation envelopes for CC (sysex?), like the vol, pan, FX automation...
And MIDI ins/outs, of course.

One more thing. Bus tracks are great. But the envelope editing is very hard without a chance to select a region individually from the session - and copy, paste it.
I wanna use a BUS track to get the "rhythmic sidechain"... Perfect to make space for eg. the KICK against the incoming signal to that BUS.

Is there anybody who really cares?

cheers

I'm still using Opcode's Studio Vision for my midi needs. Logic was too hard of a learning curve for me and I felt cakewalk was actually a downgrade from Studio Vision on the midi side :-). You can send MTC/Smpte from Vegas and have your sequencer(ie Vision for me) chase to it and do the automation on external FX's via MIDI that way. In my opinion, you have the best of both worlds, a great midi editor and a great audio editor running together.

Ok, i've read some posts before about the MIDI integration into VEGAS.
On the one hand you're right REDNROLL, two perfect specialized program are better than one all-in-one wonder..
On the other hand (in my case) the CC is the part of the MIXING.
The second program - the SEQ - in almost any cases is a PRO seq wich needs a lot of CPU. And have many unneded functions.
My Logic doesn't want to work "under" the VEGAS. Myoke (virtual MIDI router) doesn't help.

If i remember right the SoFo has some plans for the remote controls. I think they could hit two flies with one slap..

I'm still hoping. The hope dies at the end...
