Migrating settings from V6 to V7

Howdy...

I have installed v7, and I notice that my custom presets are not there. Is there a way to migrate all my presets from V6 to V7. Please don't tell me I have to open all my old projects, find the presets, and then 'resave' them as v7 presets....

That alone may stop me from upgrading...

Best,

Benjamin

er dude, the product isnt out yet officially.. more than likely the preset manager would be updated for vegas 7... err.. have you tried using the preset manager utility?
Just asking as u havent mentioned it..

dont jump the gun.. i think theres enough friendly fire going on in here with people miscontruing what others are saying.. (or meaning more likely.. )

we can only hope for the best with V7... lets hope they dont stuff it up

Not jumping the gun.. I have v7 installed right now...

It was my understanding that the preset manager just moves chains around, not the project presets themselves.

Anyone else confirm this? I would have thought when installing over a previous version, it would 'pick up' all the previous presets (effects/project settings/render settings/pan settings/etc...). Is this not the case? I must have 100s of these presets for various different projects..

But Vegas doesn't install "over" previous versions. Every new version installs in a new directory so that you can still use an old one as well as the new one, should you so choose. As such, each installation has its own set of presets.

Far as I know, the preset manager will suit just fine for getting your old presets into proper order for the new version.

I was mistaken here too rob.. hes after migrating his PROJECT presets... not the filter presets..

I dont see why it cant be done.. i mean media manager just needs to be updated a bit i guess... ??

who knows.. I dont, i wont try V7 until i hear afew more reports...
