Mini disc player or Vegas.Help?

Can anyone suggest a little lite on this subject.
I am still trying to figure out if vegas video could run a
2- 4 hour show. This would be taking stereo wave files and
having them sit in the order they will be played one right
after the other.
Is this a viable thing or would a standard minidisc player
be good enough.
We thought since he could change order of songs and make
those changes on the fly that this would be a great way to
have his show setup.
He is doing a one man show where he sings to his backing
tracks and plays guitar.
Would you { forum users} trust a 2- 4 hour show to a
computer? Or a minidisc player.
Please help with your thoughts.
Thanx to all who have been helpful so far.!!

The answer is D: None of the above. CD architect would be
the best solution for this. You could rearrange you're set
list and burn a CD and use a CD player to play along with.
An even safer bet is what many artist do....ie Brittany
Spears, Jennifer Lopez, record it to DAT tape, that way
you don't risk a CD skipping, but then you have to buy a
DAT player. Any Cdr software will allow you to do what you
want. Except you can't get 2 hours worth of music on 1
CD. I'm not sure a minidisc will record 2 hours either...I
really don't know the max time on that format, I thought it
was 80min, I do know it only records at a 32Khz compressed
format. Vegas will certainly have no problem continuously
playing back 2 hours worth of audio, but who wants to lug
around a computer? I suppose a laptop wouldn't be bad
though. Anyways, here's some other options to think about.

I would definitely go with Mini-disc over DAT. With DAT
it's not possible to make last minute set changes as
easily. Plus the cost is a lot more. I'd also personally
pick Mini-disc over Vegas for a live application like what
you've outlined. The new breed of MD players use a pretty
decent compression codec so the sound quality will be
plenty usable for a live situation. Plus they don't skip
at all like a CD player can. Also, MD is a lot more
portable than lugging around a PC running Vegas. By the
way, I would always have 2 MD players on hand and also back-
up discs of the music...because you never know what might
happen and the show must go on!
