Mini DV Film Festival

I thought I would pass this info along to anyone who is either on the west coast of the US or will be there in December. On December 12th, 13th & 14th at Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, Ca. (And that is right across from the Paramount lot) The concept of the festival is screening films that were shot on Mini-DV.

The webiste is at http://www.minidvfestival.com/. Supposedly they are also going to be promoting this at this years DV Expo West that is going on from December 9-12. So if anyone is going to that and feels like sticking around it would seem to be perfect.

Plus I want to get feedback on a documentary that will be screening at the festival. ;)

Congrats, Filmy! Couldn't happen to a nicer or more helpful person. Which one is yours?
My ass, however, got rejected by that festival. Beginning to become a disturbing trend and is disheartneing. I still really believe in my short, but apparently it didn't have what these people were looking for even when it is compared with only other minidv projects. I did find it sort of strange that the vast majority of acceptants were from in and around the LA area. Please don't take that the wrong way though- I'm sure you movie is more than worthy and I hope I get to see it sometime.

I am not centered in L.A anymore so no offense taken. :)

I don't know who the people doing the festival are but I gather they are a group of friends who were looking to do something like this. I also get the strong indication they were not ready to get over 400 submissions because the place they are screening only holds 150 people. IMO they are going to run into a lot of problems because they have been telling people to use the festival as a "wrap party screening". With between 5 - 13 projects screening in each "block" they could very easy find many many more people than 150 wanting to get in, and, as you pointed out, a great percentage of the projects seem to be from LA area residents making it more likely that will happen. But hey, cut them a little slack - it is their first festival and it is a great idea.
