mini dv problem?

This might sound weird. But I have client and everything he gives me seems to have problems. He records on mini dv with Panasonic Cam. I have no other problems with other client projects.... just his! He gives me musicals with two acts and always the final DVDs have errors. Now my latest project with him my render to mpeg2 wants to take 11 hours when it should be 3 hours and I have no video effects applied and that includes magic bullett.

Here is my question:

Is it possible for a mini dv that was recorded on a certain type of camera or even the brand of mini dv itself to create problems like this?

If Vegas VidCap is capturing the media, it's not possible that the media/tape/format is problematic. If it's playing back in your DV device, it's not the media.
What are you using for capture?

Then there is something else going on in the vid. Even illegal colors can't cause this sort of thing to happen. There must be something else going on in the project. Checked all your opacities, etc? John Meyer has a free script on the Sundance site that will check for opacity, you are rendering to MPEG? Have you accidentally selected a very high bitrate? Using a template or something custom? dropped any filters on you are unaware of? What's happening on the track header? Any FX? What about in the Media Pool? Supersample off? Motion Blur off? Rendering to Best, or just Good? Do you see full framerate playback on DV files with no filters? Any .tif files in there?
These are the first things I'd be looking at.

DSE,
I tried everything you suggested and more. What I did was I brought up another Vegas ap and compared everything. Guess what I found the PROBLEM!!!! I went to the track that had the hour long video and noticed that I put the track motion to 3D setting. I had no motion there but just the fact that it was in 3d slowed everything down. I'm sooo happy I found this I have tried defrag drives, reboots, adjustments, many failed renders and FINALLY YES!

Thanks for the inspiration,

It's always that small stuff that trips you up, ain't it?! Glad to hear you found it.
