If I have a track enabled fx chain and take a png snapshot of the timeline and then place that png back on the timeline, it is not the same color. Why?

If I dissable the effect and then do a snapshot, it is fine and works as expected, but if I have an effect on the track level, it is not.

Isn't that 2nd png getting a "double dose" of the effect.

For example, if you have a brightness and contrast effect applied to the entire track, and save a snapshot, the snapshot is saved with the adjustment applied. If you then pull that snapshot onto the same track, the brightness and contrast effect is applied to it again.

Jrazz, this is why I usally put the snapshots on a labeled "snapshot temp" track above the orginal track ( working in 2D space). Track Fxs are nice, but can be a real pain on large projects, if one's thought processes gets interupted when using a lot of snapshots. Of course, working in 3D is alot more messier, I avoid extra tracks.
