Missing Arm for Record Button

Wow - can't believe I'm having trouble with this, but....

I recently upgraded to Vegas Pro8 (updated to 8.0a build 179), and can't seem to find the "Arm for Record" button on my audio track controls. I see buttons for Invert Phase, Track FX, Automation Settings, Mute, and Solo, but no Arm for Record.

Looked through the online help and searched this forum but couldn't find the answer. I have a feeling this is an obvious one, but I just can't figure it out..... Any ideas?

If you have the track header too narrow then the buttons disappear one by one. The arm for record is the leftmost button and therefore the first one to go. Try stretching the track header area out wider and see if it comes back.

Yeah I tried that one at first, but the button definitely wasn't there.

Anyway, I've discovered the problem:

1. This new system I build uses the RealTek HD Audio Manager which automatically disables all recording "inputs" unless you actually physically plug something (i.e. a Mic) into the input port. For some reason it also "disables" the internal Stereo Mix and CD-Audio ports as input devices. My problem is that I was trying to record (w/ Vegas) the audio portion of a web stream, and since the Internal Stereo Mix was disabled, that didn't work.

2. In Vista had to go to Control Panel -> Sound -> Manage Audio Devices -> Recording and "Show Disabled Devices." The Stereo Mix and CD Audio devices showed up. I "enabled" both those devices, and sure enough, the "Arm to Record" button showed back up on my audio track in Vegas.

Crazy... Anyway thank you for the response!
