missing audio peaks

I foolishly clicked "cancel" while Vegas (5.0) was building the audio peaks of one of my .avi clips. Now Vegas will not recognize the audio connected with the clip (even though I can still hear the audio when I play the clip in Windows Media Player). I have opened the clip in Sound Forge and it also does not recognize the audio.

Is there a way to get Vegas to rebuild the peaks for this clip?

I have already tried a few things based on what I found in this forum:

1) I deleted the event from my project's timeline and from the Media Pool.
2) I searched for and found both the .sfk and the .sfap0 files associated with the clip and deleted them.
3) I then tried to drop the .avi clip back into Vegas, but Vegas is still only bringing the video into the timeline.
4) I have also tried using View->Rebuild Audio Peaks (Shift+F5) with the clip in the timeline, but to no avail.

BTW, when I click the properties button within the Media Pool, there is only "Video 1" listed in the Stream dropdown box. My other (healthy) clips list "Video 1" and "Audio 2" as expected.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
