Missing button highlights

Hi,
I created one long video file in Vegas and rendered it to an mpeg2 file. There is not associated audio file. Brought that into DVDA3 multiple times and set in and out points.

This is an instructional video with 6 lessons. So, I drop one instance of the file on the main menu page and set an in and out point to represent one lesson. I do that 6 times, each time setting the in and out point to represent the appropriate lesson.

Then I set the button highlight properties, etc.

So here is the problem: In the preview on the PC everything is fine and the remote arrow keys move the button hightlight from one button to another, just as I designed it. However, when I play the DVD on a desktop player, the highlight color only shows up on the first menu item. If I push, for instance, the down arrow, the second menu item does not change color. It does move to the right menu item as I can press down arrow and then play and it starts at the right point. The highlight color just does not work.

I have redone this project three times, all with the same results. Each time I redo it I disable smart rendering, just to be sure that I don't pick up anything from the previous render.

Any help onthis would be greatly appreciated!

Galen

When you use the down-arrow, does the highlight on the first button dissappear? Does it do this on every player that you've tried?

No, the color remains on the first text button. For example, if I press the down arrow and then press play, the next text button plays even though the highlight remains on the first button. Strange.

I have not had a chance to test it on another DVD player as we are in themidst of a move and the other players are packed. I can say that I have done the exact kind of menu before with other videos with same menu structure and they worked fine on the one DVD player we have out. But, I will check it on another one.

Thanks for your suggestion and any other ideas you might have.
