missing codec for wmv v11 with 5.1 surround

I have no problem making movies to wmv with simple stereo, but get a message that codec not installed when trying 5.1 surround. I am not sure how to go about solving this - should the codec be part of the wmp11 or is this something special that Vegas needs - or is a function of the basic project files (mainly MTS with 5.1)?

Help please!!

I think it depends on the version of Vegas Studio. Not all packages have 5.1 support.

Not sure if it's supported for WMV, but in any way, make sure you are using the latest version of VMSP9, and you have installed the latest WMP 11 from Microsoft's site.

But it is supported - rather there seems to be a software bug or something with my system. For anyone with similar problems here's how I resolved the issue:

1) Reinstalled WMP11 (also downloaded / installed Windows Media Encoder 9 series from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/encoder/default.mspx but not sure whether this was relevant)

AT THIS POINT I STILL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM

2) As a next step rather than pressing "Next" in Make Movie window I rendered through "Advanced Render ..." THIS TIME I COULD RENDER WMV WITH5.1!

3) After this I could render through pressing "Next" as I should have been able to before.
